Local Injury Unit   

The local injuries unit treats adults and children over five years of age with  minor injuries

Injuries treated at the local injuries unit include:-
  • suspected broken bones
  • sprains and strains
  • minor facial injuries
  • minor scalds and burns
  • wounds, bites, cuts, grazes and scalp lacerations
  • boils and small abscesses
  • splinters and fish hooks
  • foreign bodies in the eyes, ears and nose
  • minor head injuries
Staff can take X-rays and apply plaster casts and stitches

Referral:- Either
  •  self referral
  • via your GP
  • or Soutdhoc


Opening hours

8am-8pm 7 days a week

Last Patient check-in time is 7p.m.



Costs

Free to patients with full medical cards or patients with valid GP or Southdoc letter

€100 to non medical card holders.

Medical Assessment Unit

The medical assessment unit treats people who have had recent onset of symptoms such as breathlessness, chest pain , stroke or blackouts.

You will be seen doctor within an hour. Results of any blood tests, X-rays and scans can take up to 4 hours to process.











Referral:- Either
  •  self referral
  • via your GP
  • or Southdoc

Opening hours

9am-4.30 pm Monday to Friday

Outside these hours patients with medical conditions can be still referred to the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by their GP or Southdoc.

Costs

Free to patients with full medical cards or patients with valid GP or Southdoc letter

€100 to non medical card holders.
